About: Wally Dion is a Canadian artist of Saulteaux ancestry, and member of Yellow Quill First Nation, living and working in Upstate New York. Working in a number of media including painting, drawing and sculpture, Dion's art is concerned with issues of identity and power; it includes both representational and abstract geometric works. He holds an MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and a BFA from the University of Saskatchewan.

Wally Dion's major solo exhibition recently showed at the College Art Galleries, skodenstoodis, addresses broad social concepts relating to Indigenous mobility and empowerment, recognized through cultural, economic, and political forces. Dion's use of image and materiality addresses time and tradition through a contemporary framework.
